I looked up the definition of the sayng 'head in the clouds' on the internet. In light of the very publicised world of technology and communication, this can be a very misunderstood or erroneously used expression.
Let me explain a bit more.
Firstly -
It is reported that millions are on the internet daily. The social media numbers are almost unbelievable. People are now referred to as human capital as opposed to old terms like village or community.
There are so called celebrities with millions of 'followers' on their profiles. These profiles are many. There's email, work, social networks or job seeking and more.
People are encouraged to create profiles. Profiles want profile pictures. Your picture must show a face and neck so as to be identifiable by those who seek you.
These platforms are said to be using cloud technologies . So it is by virtue of these that one can say that there are millions of people with their heads in the clouds'. 🤷
Secondly
The picture above is a definition from the urban dictionary website.
It explains that the term refers to a person thinking something else or not focused.
People think of many things daily. From one thought to another.
The next definition says it is someone who is absentminded or impractical! They go on to say that the word cloud is used in the context of the person being fanciful or unreal. Imagine!
Lastly
Movies, TV shows and the likes have used this term repeatedly. How does a movie get from the studio to people's televisions, cellphones or laptops? Is it not making use of the very same fanciful or unreal cloud technology? Are the actors' heads not in the very fanciful or unreal clouds so to speak?
This phrase is often used disdainfully and disapprovingly. It is often an articulation of little understanding, aimed at expressing a differing opinion or belief. At times it is just a means to dismiss a discussion.
There is much that seems discombobulated in this phrase and it's use. In the context of the communications and media industry especially.
In closing
We should become used to asking those we chat with to elaborate on or simplify the things they say us. We can communicate more truthfully as a people. We can learn not to ject around statements while trying to conceal the real heart and spirit within us in the moment.
Speak life.
Choose life.
Fellowship in love and truth.
The resolution must be to edify, encourage and simply love.
So, when someone is trying to chastise you unjustified, they should not use the expression. And if they do, tell them
Oh my. How many of my cloud based profiles have you seen? Next time, like, comment, follow or subscribe 🤣
Are people not pouring their thoughts, opinions and intellect on the net?
Is there a different intention to all things cloud based?
. Thoughts?
