In the book of Joshua chapter 1 verse 9; the Lord speaks to Joshua saying
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Then, in Isaiah 41 verses 8 - 14, we see the Lord speaking to Jacob, the servant of God; some words of encouragement.
But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,
I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
“All who rage against you
will surely be ashamed and disgraced;
those who oppose you
will be as nothing and perish.
Though you search for your enemies,
you will not find them.
Those who wage war against you
will be as nothing at all.
For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you.
Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you,” declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
Lastly, Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy in the second book of Timothy chapter 1. He wrote the words in verses 6 & 7
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Hebrews 11; we learn of the definition and examples of lived faith. A combination of a few verses say:
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
According to an internet search; FEAR is an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm. FAITH is defined as complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
Is the one really the opposite of the other? Making them to be unable to coexist within one person?
How much truth is there in this statement? Could we be setting those we teach this for a feeling of self condemnation and defeat?
1 John 4:18-19 says that there is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.
Are faith and fear really mutually exclusive? Or is this just a rhyme we have become accustomed to?
In closing, 1 Timothy 6:20 says
