Unity between couples is a Godly principle.
Most times, for the sake of peace, one spouse or partner, ignores and accepts certain conditions and behaviours by the other. Even when they know or believe them not to be right in their spirit.
At times, the conditions or behaviours keep harming the relationship. Adversely affecting the union and those around them.
I have experienced some couple drama here and there. Recently even.
Godly and sound counsel needs to be #Normalised. Even with couples. The word of God says:
What God has put together, let no man put asunder.
No one is trying to break your home or family unit. At least no one should. Spousal unGodliness should not be ignored. There are ways to handle this. It is written:
He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord.
Apathy and denial at wickedness are social ills. Gained from extended exposure to oppression. Also adopted by prideful, self seeking attributes. Either way, a time and space to speak out as partners on the harboured issues of life together? Is needed. That is reflection. That is healing. That is growth.
Not the kind of counsel that unfavourably favours one to destruction. Godly and God-given counsel.
The truthful lip shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
You are an individual first, accountable to God. Love covers a multitude of sins. That is true. But love also nurtures and cares about growth, progress and well being.
"But the tongue of the wise promotes health..."
Marriage is a wonderful gift from God. For those to whom it has been given. Make it true. Joyful. Prosperous. But mostly aligned to God's will. Not your own.
The truth sets free. So ...
Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you. Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.
How great to have a partnership founded on truth first. Love, grace and fruits of the Holy Spirit.
